Runswick Bay

Runswick is a small village clinging to the cliffs at the foot of a very steep hill.

A wide sandy bay with cliffs at each end make Runswick a very enjoyable place to take a stroll. This is another picture postcard example of the Yorkshire Coast delights, its sheltered anchorage offering an ideal spot for fishermen, whalers and smugglers for many hundreds of years.

Although smuggling is less of an occupation these days, the sea, its sights and its pleasures are still at the core of the Runswick Bay economy.
