Falling Foss

Falling Foss is a 30ft waterfall located in Sneaton Forest between Littlebeck and Maybeck, just off the A171 Scarborough to Whitby road.

Car parking is available just uphill from the waterfall and visitors have a short walk down a path leading to the waterfall viewing point and Midge Hall. Built in the 1780s, Midge Hall has recently been renovated and now functions as a tea garden, nestling at the top of the falls.

This is a magnificent area of natural beauty; there are plenty of walks and there's lots of scope for paddling. Walkers can visit the Hermitage, which is a hollowed-out rock (10 minutes walk from the waterfall). On top of the rock are some carved out wishing seats, which look over the valley through the treetops – a perfect place to sit and ponder!
