Riccal Dale is situated in the North York Moors, just north of the A170 and east of Helmsley, running adjacent to the lovely village of Pokley.
The dale has a north – south aspect with the River Riccal flowing south. There are plenty of walks and paths leading into and around the Riccal Valley with well, defined paths and foot bridges. A popular destination for walkers, but understandably a well kept secret.
This was my first time in Riccal Dale. Maybe the weather conditions have been particularly good for the bluebells this year, or perhaps it is always as stunning as this year. The pano was taken as the valley opened up into a meadow. As can be seen, the bluebells were in profusion and a sight to remember and hopefully see again and again.
The nearest toilets and amenities are at Helmsley and there are some quite steep tracks into and out of the valley.
