Scampston Hall is one of the finest regency country house stately homes in North Yorkshire, and contains many fine works of art, furniture and porcelain.
The estate grounds are a beautiful and tranquil haven for people, plants and animals.
The Woodland Garden set alongside the Lower Lake contains many fine trees and other woodland plants. In spring the lake is full of tadpoles and later in the summer toads and dragonflies abound.
There is a self-guided walk, about a mile in length, which leads you to various points of interest in the gardens and lakeside. See the Palladian Bridge, the old Ice House and the Cascade along the way. Seasonal activity sheets for children are available for the walk and there is also a natural play area suitable for younger children.
