Belvoir Terrace, situated onTthe Crescent, was the home of famous poet and critic, Edith Sitwell, as well as her brothers, Sir (Francis) Osbert Sacheverell Sitwell and Sir Sacheverell Sitwell.
The Sitwells were probably Scarborough's most famous family, and can be traced back to the 14th century, however, their connection with Scarborough started in 1885 when Sir George Reresby Sitwell became a member of parliament for the town.
Modern Times
The Crescent now features family homes as well as stylish apartments and hotels, with easy access to the South Bay and Scarborough town centre.
